Chittering Solar Farm
We gained planning for a 5MW Solar Farm, at Radical Farm near Chittering. The scheme will harness the suns energy to generate up to 5 megawatts of green energy, enough to support up to 1,200 homes.
The development at Radical Farm involves the installation of solar panels, which will generate green energy without any noise or pollution by converting irradiation from the sun into electrical energy. The site would be surrounded by a secure fence and landscaping.
To date we have built 60km and are aiming to finish the development in 2012.
The solar panels will be mounted on fixed frames facing to the south, and are low profile extending to only 2.2 metres above ground level. Each row of panels would be set around 8 metres apart to prevent overshadowing each other, and the land in between can be cultivated as a hay crop or used for grazing livestock.
The scheme is proposed to be in situ for at least 25 years and can produce electricity for 35 years or more. The installation of the panels requires simple piled foundations, and the land can be easily restored back to its full agricultural use.
